A big cheers for Big Ears!

Last Thursday, if you listened hard enough, you may have heard some excited screaming. Why? Because it was the Wellington Gold Awards and BizDojo Wellie residents BigEars won the category they had been nominated for last month, Emerging Gold!

Marketing and Communications Coordinator for BigEars, Jenny Trevelyan, says that although the team were hopeful, they were totally surprised when they were announced as the winners!

“We were up against some really great businesses and it’s the first time we’ve entered. We screamed - a lot!”

With super smart tools for businesses to listen and respond to their customers, it was also the philosophy of co-founders Mark and Julia that cemented their place as a finalist. From their innovation, to their love of Wellington, Jenny says their team spirit and endless enthusiasm seem to always bring out best in people.

And the cherry on top was that the team also took home the prize for best costume. One of the BigEars crew Steve Berry, was determined to win the trip to Tokyo from the minute he heard about it so he found an image online and set about recreating it in a very short time.

“We’re very proud of him!” Says Jenny.

For those of new to BigEars, Jenny explains it simply as voice feedback. It is fast and filtered, with alert emails so that you can rescue unhappy customers.

“We have transcribers working around the clock and you can share the feedback by email or twitter on your phone or wherever! It’s awesome and much better than an excruciatingly long web-survey or a cold-call when you’re just about to sit down to dinner.”

Over the next six to 12 months BigEars have some big plans for the UK. But Jenny says it is still important for them to grow their customer base here in NZ, which she hopes the Gold Awards will help them to do. They also plan on using their base at the BizDojo to its full advantage.

“The success of BigEars and the success of BizDojo go hand-in-hand – we’re a perfect fit for each other! We love being in the same space as similarly ambitious, innovative people.”
